As soon as I saw that, I sold my 52 Candy canes on DoA for 500g each.

and there was me thinking the novelty of candy canes wore off ages ago, theres a reason people have stockpiles of them (apart from being greedy ****'s hoping to make a profit) and thats because you dont really need them

if they are the same i'll be giving any that i get away to new players again

Speculating is fun, because it can either make you a ton of money or cause you to lose a ton of money by buying/selling candy canes.

My money is on the fact that they come back and continue to remove all DP. But it wouldn't surprise me if they provided the Sugar Rush, in which case those people that are holding onto a stash from last year would become very rich very quickly.

I sold half of my stash in October, so I've kind of hedged my bet.

I think the changing the name of old candy canes into the new candy cane name means that ANet is planning to change the effects of all candy canes, not just new ones, but also old ones, into something less powerful.

This would hold true to the trend. Fans really like something, so it's changed into something less of what it was, then expected to adapt and "go with it" vs changing it back to what was considered better.

If that's the case, it would be cool if the peppermint shards were a rare drop (whereas the wintergreen shards are "standard" drops), so we can still have some that remove all DP. This is all assuming the new canes are wintergreen.

NOOOoooooo they can't mess with my (dwindling) stash of DPlicious candy canes!

Wintergreen ones would be cool, though.

How strange... last night I found myself dusting off my original ranger (the party goer) and farming grawl for ornate necklaces. o.0

I think that someone on page 1 had it right; they want to differentiate more clearly between "candy canes" and "candy cane shards."

I got called the worst names imaginable last year because I would call people on the difference, who were trying to scam in local chat. Merry Christmas.
